Resolve to Recharge: Unlocking Your Best Self in 2023!
Updated: Jul 29
Moving into the New Year is a time when a lot of us begin to reflect on the past and look forward to the future. Surely you have been asked what your New Year resolutions are at some point in your life? Even if you don't have any, you almost feel obligated to come up with something at the start of the year! The New Year (or in my opinion at any point in the year) is a great time to set new goals and strive to become the best version of yourself.
We all have dreams and goals that we want to achieve, but how do we make them a reality?
Here are a few simple tips you can follow to help you become the best version of yourself in the New Year
Reflect on the past and present. Think about the successes and failures, and what lessons you can take away from them. Once you have a better understanding of where you’ve been, you can start to plan for where you want to go. Focus on the things that went well, write them out. Give yourself praise on the things you did well, your accomplishments no matter how small or big. Keep doing more of what you know you do well! If you had any failures or negative experiences, try and see what you gained from that, what did you learn about yourself? If there are things you would like to change going forward to ensure you don't feel that again, what would need to change within yourself?

Set meaningful goals for the New Year. Write down your goals and create a plan for how you’re going to achieve them. Make sure your goals are realistic and achievable, and don’t be afraid to ask for help if you need it. Goals should be authentic to you, with your values front and centre, what you truly want out of life. Ensure when you are thinking these goals through that they are realistic, not something that is so huge it is overwhelming and unlikely to be completed. When we don't see our goals we then can easily spiral into non-serving limiting beliefs we have about ourselves like, "See, I knew I would never see my goals through, so whats the point? I am a failure". Whereas if you just set micro-goals to get you a fraction of the way closer to the bigger goal, you will feel better in yourself and have more confidence in getting to the end goal.

Practice self-care. Take time for yourself to relax and recharge. Make sure you’re getting enough sleep, eating healthy, exercising regularly, and spending time with friends and family. Making self-care a habit in your life can significantly effect your overall mental health and help to prevent any feelings of anxiety and depression. So find a way to make it fit into your schedule, because becoming the best version of yourself begins with loving yourself first! Make yourself a priority for 2023 (and all the rest of the years)!

Be Patient. Rome wasn’t built in a day, so don’t expect overnight success. Keep your eyes on the prize and stay focused on your goals. Don’t be discouraged if it takes longer than expected sometimes the best things take time. Don't be defeated if your goal doesn't work out the way you had planned it, your goals may just need some adjusting to make them more manageable for you.
We all want to be the best version of ourselves, and the New Year is a perfect time to start. With a little reflection, goal-setting, self-care, and patience, you can become the best version of yourself in the upcoming year.
